I'm in the process of upgrading to a 150 from my 75 gallon. I'm planning on running 3 250w radiums and would like to see pictures of reef tanks running radiums. Current plan for the tank light there will be no suplimental lighting just the radiums.

Thanks
Will

What kind of ballasts? They will make a difference in how they look/run. One type runs them very blue, one runs them almost white with a nice blue tint.

One bulb is running on a lumatek and the other two on a galaxy dual lamp. Both ballasts are electric which is what I was told is best for radiums.

M80 ballasts operate the Radium bulb optimally.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1802877 for facts on correct ballast.

The search button will yield a lot of hits with actual pictures, but here is one of my older ones.

Single 150 watt Radium on M81 HQI ballast, electronic will run them a little bluer and it is under driving them. Keep in mind when viewing pics that the white balance settings of cameras and the variations in monitors will give a less than real representation of the true color. My tank in photo below is a little more blue than the pics show, but not much.

Not to jump off topic or anything, but, sirreal63 that's a cool looking tank!

Thanks and I don't want to derail this thread either. It is a fun tank, unique and a pain to deal with at times, 40x40 and 17" tall, makes aquascaping and powerhead placement difficult. There are no other tanks like it and building the stand was thrilling, lol. It is currently not running while we move into the new house. Here are a few teaser pics, I am not finished with the hood, it still has the top trim to go on, but it houses two LumenArc III Mini's with 150 watt Radiums in it. It has a long way to go before it is ready for public viewing, I spent most of the day running the wiring, after a year and a half with this tank, I finally have the wiring suitable.
