Looking to set up a tank with some plants in it. Should I be looking at using the "yellow" light I use over my refugium or would a reef set up of a mix of actinic and white be better?

I'm looking at Halimedia and Red Kelp and have them in a small tank at the moment, in 9 inches of water depth with a T8 freshwater plant light over them at the moment, but can switch to reef lighting if recommended.

Right now I have both of those plants in my tank. My light is 150w MH + 2 65 actinic. He is under the PC an it's perfect. Right now he is healthy and green. One thing they don't grow that fast. My tank is a 40 breeder.
