Hello

Trying to decide what light bulb I should use over my refugium. I used to use a 9watt pc with a blue and white bulb but it looks like most people are going with cheaper options these days. I plan to light it 24/7. I can't seem to find spotlights with the kelvins listed. Is there a guide in lumens? They all list lumens...

Just get a normal curly daylight bulb, 6500K. your cheato and such will grow nice and fast with it :) I have mine in a normal desk lamp lol

This is what I use 24/7 in a reptile light fixture that cost $7 at Home Depot. http://www.lightbulbsdirect.com/page/001/PROD/FLSPCF_P38/1P381651

Just a small lamp and spiral bulb will work. Remember though, the cheato needs light down time to process and grow. 24/7 isn't always the best.

depending on how big it is I'm going to get a Finnex clip on light. I have one on my FW tank and love it!

I have assembled a fixture using a freshwater compact floresent bulb. I figure since the bulb is intended to grow plants in FW it would work in a refugium. Can't state how well it works though due to I dont use my fuge to grow algae.

Thanks for the responses. I think maybe I'll try the reverse lighting schedule first and see how that goes.
