What substrate in fuge???

I'm trying to put my fire together and im just curious what everyone else is using?

I am using Fiji Pink sand from CaribSea. Sand works great if you are trying to do a DSB. The miracle mud is just overpriced stuff, so IMO it isn't worth it.

I picked some up and then stoped myself when I saw the price.
I grabbed 20lbs of agronite and 20lbs of dry sand to mix in. Figure it will all become alive in no time.

Bare bottom. It is way easier to keep clean. DSB are old school, and will lead to a crash.

If maintained properly they shouldn't crash your tank. You just can't disturb it by digging around. That lets the gases that are built up into the water witch will kill your livestock.

I used premium aquatics sludge mixed with fiji pink//worked pretty well ...lots of life too...plan on planting some mangroves here pretty soon in it!

Well how about I only put about an inch in it then? I would like to grow macro in it and maybe throw a frogfish in there for shits and giggles later.
