Has anybody used this thing yet. Looks fun in a sadistic kinda way. I want to know that it works as well as it claims (almost too good to be true). Let me know!
I used it and it worth every pennies of it. It melts the damn thing in front of my eyes.
I got one, seems to do it's job :)

have you guys tried shocking yourselves to see how strong it is? sounds like a dumb question but the company even states you will not hurt yourself
Not that strong, just a weak current; you won't get shock by it. However, it does have some negative affects on near by softies, especially anemones.

i dont think this device kills by shocking the animal. i've never seen this in person but can make a prety good assumption based on what ive read (and didnt read). it basically uses electrolysis to cause a chemical reaction at the tip (cathode/anode). when a current is introduced it produces hydrogen gas on the cathode tip and chlorine gas on the anode tip. thats right....bleach. i thought it was funny that the website conveniently left out that info but they do give recommended dosing times so you dont give off too much chlorine.

"when electricity is properly emitted into salt water it produces two gases. One of these gases is hydrogen" - from majano wand website.
Yes interesting that they don't mention the other gas huh? Chlorine gas and bleach are not the same thing, though both are produced.
2NaCl + 2H20 -> Cl2 + 2NaOH (bleach)

I dont run a skimmer on my tank, just wondering if it would be a bad idea to use this because of the gases it creates?

Might be a good idea to find an air pump or something to increase gas exchange within your aquarium, thats the only effect a skimmer would have in this case anyway.
