A year ago I bought a backup DI Resin cartridge for my RODI unit. I go to change it today and to my surprise the DI cartridge which was once full a year ago now is only 2/3rds full. What gives? I understand settling but this is a bit much.

It should not dissolve.
Is it still fully covered in water? They may shrink when dried out.

They may shrink when dried out.
And if it did shrink, then it should likely be replaced.

Does DI resin need to be stored wet?

Sealed from air and since it is sealed it will stay damp. If it dries out then it must have been exposed to air and the CO2 in the air will deplete it. It does not need to be actually swimming in excess water, however.

Shoot, wish I would've known this prior. I'm assuming soaking it will not revive it. Should I assume it is entirely exhausted then?

Was it open to the air?

The resin was delivered in a refillable canister. I had that stored in a plastic grocery sack, not air tight though.

Garbage. Buy it in sealed bags in the future and refill your containers.
