Hi all,

I'm building a sump out of a 40 breeder.
Return pump is a Eheim1262.
Main tank is a AGA Dual Megaflow 120.

I don't need a fuge section.
Most designs I've seen have fuge

Any suggestions for height and spacing of baffles, return section, etc.

thanks

First baffle placed so your skimmer will fit. Bubble trap between the two 1 -1.5" spaciing. The rest is the return section. 9" skimmer baffle height, or 10" if you want.

thanks for chiming in uncle.
so real quick lets say left to right.

return from tank: wide enough to house skimmer then 1st piece of glass on bottom
2nd glass bubble trap 1" off bottom 1 to 1.5" spacing
3rd piece of glass on bottom 1 to 1.5" spacing
rest of sump for return pump and ATO sensor.

correct?

I'm tagging along for your build, I hope you post pictures. I've been interested in doing the same but haven't had any luck finding any build threads what so ever...

I just made a 40B into a sump and went oversize on the skimmer section, no fuge area. I did the center baffle right in the middle in the tank so the skimmer section is 17" x 17". I used 10" glass for the baffles. My first baffle is a 1.5" then the last is at 4" as I incorporate a eggcrate shelf to run media bags between the baffles. I had the glass shop cut 4 pieces of 1/4" glass and it came to just of $21.
