am looking for some feed back from g-2 owners as to how you mounted your units and how high from the top of the water. as well as what lighting schedule you are using.i am currently running 3 units over my 180 using the rails. i am looking into hanging them from above by building a frame off the back of my stand.

I was running mine over my 93" cube (30"x30"x24") with rails as well. It was about 2" above the water, a bit too close. I recently put a pair of 2x4 across and put the rails on top to see how it would work. It raised it by 3.5". I like it much better and looking to see how the corals will respond. It's ugly, but it's a temporary solution until I build a canopy, or put it on a hanger. Also worth mentioning that I added the reflector kit with the honeycomb lenses.

i have 2 G2 160w with upgraded optical lense kit on my 72g bf (tank is 23" deep) sps tank, just mounted on a custom made metal frame 7" above water. seems better now. before that, i just put it on top on my tank and it's shows sign of bleaching. i do have the optical lense installed. the 30 watts bulbs are very bright !!
