I know 75 gallon tanks are 18" wide, but I need to know exactly how wide they are at its widest point. I built a stand for my 180 gallon and inside of it I have 18 and 1/8 inches of width and if it's possible I'd like to use a 75 gallon tank as a sump. In your post please specify if your tank is glass or acrylic and what brand it is.

Thanks!

I believe 18" x 48" is a standard foot print for a 70/75/90 gallon GLASS tank.

They just differ in height.

My concern is that I only have an 1/8 of an inch of room, so I need to know if the tank is exactly 18".

I would say the safest bet is to measure the tank you are buying.

Or go to page of the brand you want to buy.

I'm not sure the brand of mine. I'll dig out a tape and measure though. I'll post shortly.

marineland, 18 1/4" measuring trim

disclaimer this tank is some where between 6-9 years old and i need trifocals because the bifocals are not cutting it plus the tape measure used to measure tank was made some where other than the USA so take these measurements at your own risk

Mine is plastic trimmed...

So outside to outside dimensions are

18.25" x 48.25"

Just the glass is 18 x 48.

I agree with this too, but in general I would say for a tank with a rim youre going to need more than 1/8"

I would be more concerned with height of the 75. I ran a 180 with a 55 gallon sump (same height) and it was a total PITA to do any work in the sump. Make sure you have plenty of clearance to do whats needed.
