I am playing around with accent lighting on my tank. I have purchaced a total of 12 led's 4 each of different colors On the website where I got them from in the details section of each color all of them have a max rating of 1000ma. So if I wire them all in series to the driver do I adjust the driver to 1000ma or should I set it lower? the colors are Warm White, Cyan, Geeen, and red if that makes any difference. All of them are Cree except for the Cyan it is a Phillips.

Thanks in advance
Mark

My guess would be set it a bit lower than 1000. From what I've heard since that is the max you don't want to run at max all the time because you would burn up the Led's faster which I'm assuming nobody wants. And idk about linking the Philips with cree, its probably ok but I'm not the guy to answer. But a picture would be cool! Good luck

if they are rated at 1000 ma its ok to run them at that current
just make sure they are cool enough from heatsink /fan

I would set them to 900ma, you won't see different. all my driver set 900ma with 1000ma. It works great for me.

If you haven't bought the driver yet Rapid LED has a constant currant drive that is 700ma for 16.00. I have my drivers for the whites set at 1 amp and the Blues set at 800ma. Inceasing the current does not result in a linear increase in light output from what I've read. Most people set their whites and blues at 750 ma.
