so this thing is swimming around my tank, looks like a zoa shaped jelly fish, its swimming though, not floating in current. any ideas? ty

Looks like a jellyfish to me. Many jellyfish have an attached stage, that later becomes free-swimming. Have you added any new liverock or inhabitants lately?

actually no i havnt added anything in over a month, and that was just a couple frags of zoa. i do have clown fish eggs that are pretty close to hatching.not sure if this has anything to do, or helps any?

Not uncommon, it will disappear as quickly as it appeared. They don't survive for long.

I wouldn't say they're common. Common enough that most people get to see one eventually, but not common enough that they stick around. They're not likely to last, so won't be harmful. They can sting a bit, but one tiny one will die out before it can do any harm.

Do an image search for hydroid jellyfish to see some pics of the different life stages.
