Hello,
I am building a custom canopy and I need to put fans in it to cool the lights. I was planning on using computer fans and I was wondering if there are specific specifications I need the fans to have in a moist environment. Also how can I power both fans on a wall wart?

Thanks in advance!

A wall wart is just fine to power your fan(s). Just make sure the total of the mA of the fans is equal to or less than the wall wart. (mA are additive)

The other consideration is the direction in which the fan will be mounted. That is, most bushing fans are meant to be mounted vertically. If you want to mount your fan(s) horizontally, make sure they are designed for that type of mounting.

Would these fans work?

It will certainly work….but for how long? I’m not a big proponent of sleeved fans. Most cannot be mounted horizontally. With the amount of time we end up running these things, I’d prefer ball bearing fans. If you're looking at 120mm, HERE’s (http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-120x25mm-Computer-Connector-FANBOX12/dp/B0000512FK/ref=sr_1_29ie=UTF8&qid=1327583771&sr=8-29) an example.

I would definately spend a little extra up front on quality fans. I have to replace my cheap fans after 6 months. I also prefer to have the fans blowing air into the canopy and have vents for it to exhaust. This limits humid air from being pulled through the fans and 'may' extend their life. Just my .02

Okay so I'll get those. When I mount them I thought it would be better to have them blowing the hot air out of the tank but you say it's better to have them blow air into the canopy. I see how it is a better way to have them after what you said about them.

Thank you for the help!

Will the salt in the air or the water in the air ruin the fan?

What size fan should I get to cool two 150w halides?
