I have a biocube 29, it's been up for only a month and starting to get green hair algea. Is this normal for new tank and how do I fix problem. Light was on for 10 hours just changed it to 8 hours.

Reducing the lighting was a good idea. If feeding heavily, try reducing your feedings. As another possible fix, I've had success with emerald crabs eating green hair algae as well.

It's a normal part of our tanks, the goal is keeping it under control. Aside from reducing the amount you feed, turbo snails will eat it. An excess bio-load will also cause it.

Also, what are you using for the source of water?

Look into reducing phosphates

We had hair algae OVERWHELMINGLY growing in our 29 gallon tank and within about 3 weeks after adding 3 Mexican Turbo snails it is all but gone.
