Limewater and reef tanks

Can i add straight lime water (concentrated lime juice)to my reef tank?
If yes what are the advantages and dis advantages of doing this.

Do you mean lime from the fruit lime? If so, that's not what lime water/kalk is.

In the context of saltwater aquariums, lime refers to calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide. :) Lime juice is unlikely to be useful.

Yes as the others have said, limewater aka kalkwasser is the saturated solution of freshwater and Ca(OH)2 (Calcium Hydroxide) powder. Add about 1-2 tsp per gallon of RO/DI freshwater, stir and let set, then drip slowly for topoff. Never dump large amounts or mix powder in tank. Raises Calcium and Alkalinity. Great stuff.

Keep the lime juice for crappy Mexican beer :thumbsup:

If I remember right some company offers a product that includes lime juice as part of the supplement and it wasn't for aptasia but to feed I believe corals.

Well, we see a lot of ingredients in supplements. Lime juice is one of the stranger ones.

I guess the company could try to explain the lime juice as a "natural" source for vitamin C. Don't know what the reason is that's only speculation. I'm still trying to find the link to the RC thread that the product was in but keep getting way to many kalk and lime juice for aptasia hits.
