Would running a constant water change of ~1.5 gallons a day (about 45 gallons a month) on a 300 gallon system be more beneficial than replacing ~20 gallons every other week?

Even though I already had an automatic water change system designed, I feel like the slow constant water change will be easier and less stress to the system.

What are your thoughts?

Gallon for gallon constant water changes are slightly less efficient than single water changes, not enough to notice though. So if you can automate it it would def be worth it.

Sounds pretty interesting... You're right, if the incoming water has the same parameters as the water in the tank, the gradual and constant water change will stress the tank inhabitants less than the average water change. Why don't you try it and update us?
