View Full Version : Is it normal for a tank raised clownfish to host?

My tank raised clownfish used to do little dances in the sand and "dig" a bed but lately it has began swimming around my toadstool leather. Over the past week he actually lays in the center of the toadstool on his side and just sits there in it. That's all it does all day.

So is it normal for a tank raised clown to do this? Is it possible it is not a tank raised clown?

Perfectly normal. Adopting a host is instinctual rather than a learned behaviour. Nature is amazing! :)

You are lucky. Some need to tape up pics of clowns hosting for them to get the idea.

I have a nem but my female prefers the toadstool.

They will probably switch to the anemone before too long. Some never do.
