I picked one of these up dirt cheap 9w UV a few days ago. I thought I had an ich problem which I don't think I do now but really the corals have showed major color/size changes in just a couple of days. I'm not sure if the cloudier water shields light or they have less food to gather with the UV so they stretch? either way I'm sold thus far. Here's some pics.

These really got saturated and you can see the bottom is sweeping. It was more of a cluster last week.

Very cool. Looks like they also picked up some color!

It'd be interesting to see how it keeps up. Dont think I've come across any long term tests showing the results of a uv light. Heard only that it's not beneficial but never seen actual tests.

Keep us updated.

There are better Uvs then the one I got. The one I got was 35 to my door and has a built in pump. The pump is probably close to a maxi jet but it's quieter than a maxi jet. I didn't expect much but I'm actually impressed.

UV does nothing for ich by the way. may lower numbers but in no way will "cure" it from your tank. corals look great though!

Good experiment. It will be interesting to see the comparison in a week or two.
