Taking rim of 20H for sump

Can I take the rim off a 20H for a sump?

If you did I wouldn't fill it more than a 1/3 of the way. If you add baffles with silicon you can fill it up a little ways further but I wouldn't go higher than 2/3. Also I have found the glass under the trim is sometimes unfinished and very sharp. GL

Just wondering why you'd want to take the rim off, especially if it's for a sump.

If it's for aesthetics, I think you're better off buying a rimless tank, or getting a custom-made acrylic sump.
