I was wondering if the sexy shrimp or the white spot anemone shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) would be better for hanging out on the mini carpet anenome. Does anyone have a preference? I like them both and cant decide!

The sexy shrimp dance! That is always my vote. :)

I know they are freaking cute, but I went with the white spot. I like that those ones always stay on the anemone, infact he went right for it the second he was in my tank. I may still get some sexy shrimp later on. Thanks for the input!

got the shrimp and the anemone today

This is an old post, but I was wondering how your Maxi-Mini and shrimp were doing? I have a large BTA with a lot of Sexy Shrimp. We love them, so I'm thinking of adding some White Spot or Spotted Cleaners (Periclimenes yucatanicus) with Maxi-Minis (which I just found out about).

They are doing great! The shrimp is very protective of her anemone and doesnt like anything getting near it. She also eats the anomone poo (weird). I sometimes wonder if the anemone getts agitated with the shrimp always on it, but they both are doing okay:cool:

Wow, great picture. Thanks for posting that. I just got a MMCA and now just need to find a White Spot.

good! They are a really interesting shrimp . When they do come off of the anemone they wobble side to side. Hope you get one soon!

Your hawkfish would almost definitely eat it! I will probably be getting one an putting it with my maxi mini in a 10 gallon nano where it will be un-bothered by larger fish.

After work today I went to my LFS for RODI, and I made the mistake of browsing. He had a Maxi-Mini Carpet Anemone (MMCA). It's not as nice as Gig'em's, but he and the OP, KeLusth, recently got me hooked on them.

As he was trying to get it in a bag, I asked if he had any anemone shrimp other than Sexy Shrimp. His normal answer is no, but he said yes. It was still floating in a bag as he'd gotten it a few hours earlier. It looks like a Periclimenes species, but I don't know which, yet. So I got both the MMCA and shrimp.

They were in the same acclimation tub and the shrimp immediately sat on the MMCA (sorry, crappy pic with flashlight).

After acclimating, I put the MMCA in first (spot that my wife chose, or at least second choice after I vetoed 1st ;) ) I tried to put the shrimp in on the MMCA, but it dropped down lower. It wouldn't look up to see the MMCA! You can see the shrimp below the MMCA (and above a little Mini, not Maxi-Mini, CA I've got).

I left it for a few hours, and it never moved or noticed the MMCA. But a Sexy Shrimp had come over and was eying the new real estate. I got a piece of rigid air hose and managed to back up the Periclimenes shrimp until it bumped into the MMCA. Then it climbed on, yea!

Shortly after taking that picture, I saw it chase off the Sexy. :)

I'm pretty excited. OP, copying is the sincerest form of flattery. You posted a great combo, thanks.

This morning with the lights still off, I noticed the new MMCA had wandered off. Hopefully with the shrimp still on it. I couldn't see it anywhere, but it was dark. The 1st one I got without a shrimp has stayed put where I first placed it.
