I just bought a used one but did not come with any instructions or paperwork. Trying to find out how much water it needs to sit in. Any other useful info would help. If someone could steer me in the right direction its appreciated. So far I cant find much.

I don't have that exact reef octopus, but my 2500 says it needs to be in 7-10" and I think that is there general rule with their skimmers.

the only bad thing about the octopus skimmers is that it lacks instructions. I have a 200 and i have mine sitting in 10" of water. mine has a min and a max line on the skimmer and at 10" its just above the min line.

i own a xs160 and i have it sitting in 8'' of water. dont worry about not having the instructions because they suck.

I've made better instructions on bar napkins with crayons.
