So hugely inspired by calvin415s 144x16x16.

Making the decision tomorrow between:

130x18x18
or
144x16x16

182g
or
159g

Thoughts?

Plan to do closed loop(s) on both.

182 if you have the space!

ya um ok

Just an FYI, comments like these aren't going to earn you posts towards being able to get to the for sale foums.

To the OP-
I would go with the 130x18x18 because 18" front to back is hard enough to aquascape, so I couldn't imagine only having 16". It really will come down to what you want to keep. My only suggestion would be to maybe go wider and a little taller if you get fish like wrasses or tang(you would be suprised how much height a full grown tang will take up).

you'll regret not going 24'' wide, I did

More space front to back is much easier to scape.

I really wish I had gone 24" wide, or 36"!

Having a 18" Tank limits your Rock Work and Hiding places for Fish, Big Long fish would bump there noses turning around, I would say Do the 182g.

Good luck with your Monster!

As others have said, I'd go as deep as your pocketbook and floor plan will allow. I have 24" and wish I had another foot to play with.

Thank you for the thoughts!

I'm planning this to be a sps dominant tank, diy LEDs down the middle w/ t5s on either side, single overflow on one side, closed loop intakes on one side returns on the other, or up through the bottom. Although I like the thought of being able to change the output points vs. having them drilled in.

I kinda have t-rex arms, so I want maintenance to be easier. I really like my current setup (100g) for it's height and depth. 60x18x20t. my previous 150g, 48x24x31t, and 240g 96x24x24t really turned me off of maintenance b/c of the back pain, and scuba gear.

I also think he did a great job with the long aquascape.

I'm leaning towards the 130x18x18, but may go 20 wide.

I don't plan on huge tangs, but likely a yellow or purple, sohal. are they going to suffer with this height?
