OK, I found out the problem with my PinPoint Salinity meter. (I think).
It was always reading way too low. after calibratn g it many times. I took a bucket of tank water out, and put the probe in, and it was near 53.0! Put it in the sump, and it reads 9 (way off) So I put my finger in the sump, and it reads 53.0... So it must have something to do with grounding...
Any thoughts?

Definitely possible, for this very reason I pull out a water sample with a small drinking glass, then measure. Electrical interference will mess with the readings. Just make sure to swish around the probe, any air trapped in the tip will change the reading.
