my yellow tangs have worms, but I don't know what kind they are. Their poop is filled with very thin, translucent, segmented worms that are maybe five millimeters (a quarter inch or so) in length. They appear oterhwsie healthy. Not shrunken bellied, not swollen bellied either. What med to use in this reef tank, or should I make the crazed effort to catch them and isolate them in a QT for treatment? (not looking forward to that, lemme tell ya).

First off, that sounds disgusting. :D But seriously, I would try PraziPro. It's generally reef safe (except for tube worms/feather dusters). See links below:

If it is in fact worms, prazi will work on the critters in the tangs but won't do anything for the ones they have already pooped out into the DT. I would definitely treat them in QT to minimize the amount of worms left in your substrate.

If it is a segmented worm, annelid, praziquantil may not be very effective. You could try febendazole but it carries liver toxicity. I would suggest observation if you fish appears to be doing fine.

Observation it is, as they appear to be fine other than the visible presence of worms in their poop. PraziPro is always in my meds cabinet, so I will head off to Mexico without worrying unduly about them, and if necessary will treat when I get back...
thank you, guys!
