well today i got home to notice my ato line has a steady drip coming from the aqua lifter pump. i checked the ato switch and it is working right. when the water level gets below the switch the aqua lifter turns on and pumps the water fine but when the pump turns off the water line has a steady drip:furious: i use kalk with my ato water so this steady drip could raise my ph too high. has anybody else had this problem with the aqua lifter pump? i ordered another pump just in case something is wrong with this one!!!! idk what do you guys think?

idk what do you guys think?
I think you got a leak or a back siphon ....is the Aqualifter above or below the water source(s)

water level of your ATO, is higher than level of sump. ...
either move ATO lower, or use a flow restrictor at the end of the line by your sump, those would require certain pressure to pass water, so only open when pump is on. [I know they have a name, XXXX valve ... but I cannt recall]

i have the aqua lifter on the floor between the ato bucket and sump. should i just mount the pump higher than the ato bucket and sump?

water travels downhill, that's law of physics, so your sump water level, should be higher of that of the ATO water level.
with the aqualifter, you can just hang it on side of ure sump :)

i put the pump ontop off my ato stand wich the pump is know higher than the ato bucket and sump, but it still drips for along time after the pump turns off.

Placement of pump, doesnt matter.
hope u read it now :)

Does it just drip out the remaining water that is in the tube between the pump and the sump? or is water passing through the pump and dripping out? The water left in the tube is going to come out of the tube in between the pump turning off and then back on. Once air enters it from the out(sump) side it will drain the tube. There's not much you can do about this (other than a pressure valve of sorts) but water should not continue to siphon through the actual pump once it is off.

Yes it just keeps dripping even after seing bubbles come through the line. I have never had any problems with this pump I've had it almost a year know. Idk

Has the pump ran dry or anything else notable recently?

Yes it has ran dry before. Like I forgot to check the
ato bucket and it was empty a couple times.

sooooo, is water level os ATO higher ? or sump water level ?
lol
ahahah
seems like u know the problem and answer, ans just ignore it.
anyways ...

Where can I get a pressure valve to make sure it doesn't drip after the pump shuts off? Does home depot or lowes have them?

LFS
same valve they use with air pumps to not let water go back to air pump.

I dont think they carry airline fittings...
I would check LFSs or something like marine depot would have some.

Check valve is what you are talking about, and they only allow water to flow in one direction. One of the RO/DI filter places would have one, but not sure on about HD or Lowe's.
If your drip/siphon is from the resovoir to the sump/tank, it won't fix your problem. It would only stop it from siphoning back into the resovior. Water level in resovoir needs to be lower than output end of the aqualifter hose.

The water level in the ato is lower than the pump and level of the sump. Maybe since the pump ran dry a couple times it messed the flaps up inside the pump?

So I put a check valve on the line that goes into the tank. So far so good, the ato level has always been lower than the sump level so I'm thinking the pump maybe going bad after it ran dry a few times. Idk. Thanks for your help

[QUOTE=Allmost;19912159]water travels downhill, that's law of physics, so your sump water level, should be higher of that of the ATO water level.
all of my sumps water levels are below there top off containers (brute trash cans) with aqualifter pumps being used for top off and i had one that would continue to allow water to flow when the trash can was full to the top. the design of the aqualifter pumps is not suppossed to allow water to create a syphon but for a $12 pump s@#t happens sometimes. I have a aqualifter pump that blows air out both holes, saved it because i didnt think it could happen.
