they say seahorses stick to one mate . but this morning i just witnessed my 2 females and 1 new male all tied together in what looked like one wild seahorse orgy.
i couldn't get any good pics as the lights are still off and cant use flash with them .
but it was a very funny thing to watch.

they will "play" with each. The male will have 1 dominate lady and pretty much keep her in line to himself but she will like to flirt. It could be possible that if the mate passes they may find a another relationship or pass themself. Its a toss either way. It is better to have a higher ratio of female to male. good to hear. still looking for better food choices. maybe a group buy.

its also said in the wild the male and female will greet each other every morning but then go their separate ways for the day. kind of like going off to work for the day.

Awwwwww man, you guys are KILLING ME with all this seahorse talk! I thought I was done with seahorses (got it out of my system) so now their 46 gallon tank is an aggressive tank, my biocube is too small for horses, and the 92 is probably too big (would be hard to keep them nourished in such a large tank, plus the little goofballs would be hitching onto stinging corals). Please don't tell me I'm going to be setting up a fourth tank again.... you guys REALLY don't enjoy your seahorses, right?
Here's a video of one of my guys touring the tank. Boy I miss watching them. :(

not a problem i loved the video. the setup looked great beautiful tonga rock for the ponies. give me some details how big was the tank and how many horses . I see you had fish too what worked for you? i had a manderine with mine but he didnt survive the power outage. when i go to my 65g tank i would like to try some other fish.

That's a 46 gallon bowfront. At the time it had a HOB refugium and a canister filter. the maximum horses I ever had in there at the same time was 5.... three erectus and 2 reidi.
The fish I kept with them were cardinals (Bangai or PJ) firefish, and a goby or two. I always used a feeding dish for the horses so they didn't have to compete with the fish for food... when they saw me heading towards the tank the horses would all zoom over to the feeding dish.
