Help!! Dont know what this is

Hi i was just given a few live rocks and one of them has this spongy while stuff growing on it that i dont know what it is if someone knows that would be great thanks!

Looks like a sponge to me.

Will probably die off now that it's been exposed to air

Looks like a sea sponge, and they are just harmless filter feeders.... But it looks somewhat dead since it is bleached so i would recommend removing it because they can produce toxins that are harmful to fish and inverts. But if it is alvive you just killed it because they can not be exposed to air since air pockets will form in their matrix basically starving them to death
