Hey everyone,
New to the sw lifestyle, but already badly addicted.
Anyway, got an AM turboflotor 5000 Shorty seems to work fine except the bubbles that gather in my collection cup don't seem to break down into liquid very well. In a twelve hour span about a half cup of skimmate collects in the bottom and the rest becomes filled with bubbles and eventually pushes the lid off.
All my parameters are in check.
If anyone knows what's going on their advice would be greatly appreciated.

The remaining bubbles are indicative of high organic load in the system that the skimming process foams out. IME, half a cup of skimmate in 12hrs from an AM 500Shorty is quite alot. Remove, clean and repeat a couple of times and it will settle down to typical "skimmate collection".

Not thinking the bioload is too heavy. There's six fish in a 180 gallon tank with a 60 gallon sump along with 200 pounds of live rock.

Also could be what's already in the system as well. It should resume to typical skimming in time...just be patient ;)
