Just set up the JBJ28 and was curious how everyone else does there wave maker. I am planning on putting a Hydor Koralia Nano 425 in the tank as well. My question is which powerheads to use with the wave maker?

Do you typically plug the Nano at 100% and alternate the 2 sump powerheads or do a 2 and 1 setup. I was considering setting the wave maker up on a timer and leaving one of the sump powerheads on 24/7 and shutting the wave maker down at night.

Any thoughts?

I've tried both pumps on simultaneously and alternating. With both on, you'll need to add more water as the back chamber water levels will drop. It also adds heat with both pumps on. In addition it'll cause some overflow in the media basket.

So I've settled on alternating the pumps at 90-sec intervals. The tank stays cooler and the water doesn't evaporate as quickly. Also put Hydor FLO rotating Deflectors on each outflow. They add a nice random current to prevent dead spots. Everything in the tank seems happy.
