Greetings all, I'm in the process of chossing a skimmer for my 40G breeder and have come across a few different models and would like the forum members to give me thier feedback or suggestions.

The primary reason I've nqrrowed it down to these is my need for the skimmer to have a footprint less than 4'x10', or can be modified to fit within this diameter.

I would get the RO BH2000. That is what I have on my 40B and it fits perfect on the back.

SO, the Reeflo is way beyond the parameters listed above.

@fishgate: the 2000 is within but it would be very tight to squeeze in, but the 1000 would fit nicely.

AquaMaxxx or RO, I wouldn't touch any of the others with a 6 foot pole.

Sro-1000 would be a nice fit for a 40b

Edit: Just noticed the 4" !!! Wow that will really limit you. I would look at modifying that space. If you have to get a sump saver design like the sro1000sss I would look at something else as the 1000sss design seems to be a pain to work with. Make sure you know exactly how much hight you need to lift the cup off and how much water you will have to run the Skimmer in in case you have to raise the Skimmer.

Tunze. low wattage and a great pump too. I just replaced my sedra 5000 on my asm G3 with a Hydrofoamer Silence and the difference is unreal. Plus, it uses 12 watts instead of 45-50.

There's no change in the 4" space but the length is changeable its going in a custom built HOB fuge which is 32"x4"x18" in diameter ID. I think with the above selections I can get a quality skimmer with my available space.

I think I'm going to go with the Reef Octopus BH1000, but I'll take any other suggestions and votes if anyone wants to give them.
