sorry i cant get a better pic, my memory card is missing.

i started noticing the male lines about 3 weeks ago.

history: I had this one about 5" and another scribbled about 4" together for about 3 months. Then I had the tank separated in half for about 3 weeks with egg crate to help with a new fish addition. The 2 scribbled was separated during that time, and when I took the egg crate out, they've been going after each other. So the big scribbled went in the sump for about 2 weeks.

Definitely appears to be the case. Really cool that it is happening. All the retailers say they will change, but there doesn't seem to be any recorded evidence of such by hobbyists, at least that I have been able to find. Keep us updated on how the transition goes! My scribble is starting to change in my opinion as well(white patch getting bigger, yellow stripe on top of the body growing towards the head, body elongating, tail shape changing a bit), but not showing any horizontal lines at all. Surprised that it has transitioned that much that fast(3 weeks).

IME, yellow stripe on top of the body growing towards the head is not necessary a sign of turning male or a male. I have a couple of scribble angels. One is about 5" and another is about 6". The smaller one has the top stripe extends all the way to the head and connects with the yellow patches behind the eyes. But she doesn't have any other sign of being a male, like crescent shape tail fin, straight scribble lines, elongate body shape etc. Actually the bigger one some time chases the smaller one a little bit. so if at all, the bigger one should be the one that is turning male. But the bigger one doesn't have any other sign of turning male either.
