Hello RC. I'm just wondering if someone can help me ID this stuff. I've tried doing a 3 day lights out, started running a phosban reactor 2 months ago (replaced media 1x already), and regularly blow it off the rocks with a baster. It almost looks like small brown dots in a thick snot covering all the rocks. It especially seems to congregate in areas with high flow, especially on/near my power heads.

I'm running 4x T5HO for about 12hr a day. Water parameters within the last week are:
temp: 78F
Sal: 1.0225
pH: 8.5
Alk: 11
Ca: 440ppm
Mg: 1450
Ammonia: 0.0
Nitrate: ~2.0
Phosphate: 0.0ppm

I run a fuge on the same light timer as the DT lights. I have a few softies which seem to be doing ok. My pulsing xenia is doing great! My Montis just so-so.

Also, a few weeks ago, I noticed a large amount of these squiggly little worms. I'm not sure if they're bad, or totally benign, but I'm curious as to what they are. Thanks in advance for your help!

How old is your tank? From the new look of the rocks, its common after the cycle. No big deal. Your cuc will take care of that.

The brown algae is dino bacteria. The worms are Nereid and should be harmless.

The tank has been setup since early September so it's going on its 7th month. How do I get rid of this stuff?

hmm. I'm not sure about it being dino's. their normally more "snotty" and slimy looking. it looks to me like a good case of diatoms. cutting the lights back to 8 hours a day for a while. and run GFO in a reactor. it should be gone in a couple weeks if its diatoms.
