So I purchased 2 MP10 for my 55 ga Corner tank. Sadly I didn't realize that the glass is too thick and now they will not attach. I am going to have to return them. My question is if I upgrade to the MP40 which does support my glass should I get 2 or should I get one? Will you think the MP40 will be too powerful for my tank? Thanks for the help!

Thats what I am thinking also, does the preset settings come with an adjustment so they are not overpowering? Thanks

Buy an mp40 you will not be disappointed.

You can turn them up and down as much as you want and the programs will work off that intensity.

How thick is your 55? most standards are a 1/4 inch and MP10 are good up to 3/8th

Well I went ahead and got the MP40 and it works great. My question now is I only have one pump. What is the best setting? I have it currently on EcoSmart mode with one pump does that do much? Should I switch to lagoon or reef crest? How do I know what is the best mode for me? Thanks.

It's a really personal thing and depends a lot on rockwork. Try all the modes and see which one works best for you.

Reefcrest for the win.

Understood, how would I even know if the best mode is the best mode for me? This is my first reef tank and I currently just have a fish and an anemone in it. The fish seems to have a lot of trouble swimming so I am assuming the current is too strong? The anemone has went into hiding behind a rock so I figure the same is going on with it. Still not sure what to set this on cause I think the MP40 is too strong for the tank.

If you have it cranked up all the way, it is two much flow.

Put it at 1/2 or 3/8 speed and see what you get. I use a MP10 on full tilt on my 75 on the custom long pulse mode, and it works great.

Well I currently have it on Reefcrest mode at about 75%. Again my tank is a 55g a corner bow. The dimensions are 26" both sides and I believe about 30" high. I have one MP40 on one side about 6" inch from the surface. Am I supposed to see a lot of water movement on the surface? If not then it must be to high. With it being a bow front the flow bounces off the front of the tank and circles to the back. I figure the flow doesn't need to be that high. Thanks for the advice.

What do you set yours at? I have never had a reef tank before so i am not sure what I am looking for exactly? Thanks.
