Hey guys,

My NO3 is < 2 PPM based on my Salifert test but my PO4 is .24 PPM based on my Hanna checker. I started running GFO to reduce PO4, but it is expensive, I was wondering if I could use carbon dosing(vinegar) to reduce PO4?

Thanks
Dave

Theoratically, yes, as bacteria grow, they take up C, N and P. C from vinegar, N from no3, and p from po4 ...

it will take some time before the bacteria culture is estalished and actually start noticing a difference, you should keep running po4 removers meanwhile.

I agree with you on it being expensive, you are able to re use it but it involves using a lye solution.
