Well after playing with DIY led for a while I decided to take the plunge we built a 18 bulb cree system. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s4/drktorn/IMG_4694.jpg

Well today it came

This going to go on my 36x24 frag tank

I went with a 36watt and 54watt. Link together. Hopefully this is enough. Should be
Comes with 2 separate power supply

I have one but I do not like the Pink LED's. They make the Tank look strange. Especially when a Fish swims underneath a Pink LED. It is a million times better than the Marineland Reef Capable LED though which is a very similar LED.

Just wanted to ask as an update. Do the acros like this light enough?

Thanks

I know this is old but any updates on how this went over the last year? Anyone else tried them?

Don't waste your money 1 watt really isn't worth the time of day. Put these in the same category of the Marineland garbage. Don't scrimp on lights, skimmers.

I have the opportunity to pick several of these up at a super cheap price so I was just wondering how they worked out. I was considering it for a grow out trough.

Have you tried one yourself? I have a 24" 36w one over my JBJ30 and it does well for LPS, softies and my RBTA. I do have a Millie thriving towards the top of my tank. I definitely wouldn't put this in the same category as Marineland LEDs.

With little investment on these used ones I would think the could work over a 10" trough. I was just asking. I have radions over my display and fully agree with not using them on a display tank or anything deep.

I think that a sponsor is selling them cheap right now.

How cheap is cheap?

Still not worth it though.

I would not use these if they were free.

P.S. The Look is Terrible too. Everything is Washed Out and Dull.

I prefer Kessil Lights - All my Corals Pop Like No other.

The same Corals do not even resemble themselves under AquaticLife and you cannot adjust them at all.

Epic Fail.

Looks good to me. Not washed out at all. I have 3 watt leds and have to turn mine down to about 50%. So, maybe Im running mine at 1.5 watt. Obviously Kessil isnt a budget light, and IMO arnt even close to the best. Kessils make your corals pop because of all of the black light effect. Put black lights on your tank and they will pop too. Maybe put a disco ball for shimmer. Doesnt mean its a good light. I have nothing against Kesil, just saying these dont look like an epic fail. They look like a good budget alternative.

I've got the AquaticLife 1W LEDs on my tank - they look very good, especially at its price point. The only downside is the lack of a dimmer, but that's a minor point for me. Decent shimmer, too.

Like you said, these are hardly a failed setup.

I have a shallow zoa grow out system that 1watt would be fine for. Could somebody send me the sponsor sale link please? These are worth investigating some more.

What price point? I have the 48" version of these lights (78 1 watt bulbs) and they were like 500.00.

They are not junk in terms of build quality, they are actually built very well. better than my Coralife T5s by a long shot.

If these had a dimmer on the individual colors they might be ok.

If you have a shallow tank they probably are fine, brighter than a 200 watt T5.

I don't know the lumen output of these though. That would be nice to know.

I have the 48" version of the 48w LEDs, and paid around $320 during a Black Friday sale. They were around $375 brand new a year ago, and you could find refurbished units in AquaticLife's outlet store for around $150 a few months ago - a steal, IMO. One of the big draws for me was the fact that you could mount it right into the edges of the tank. I didn't want to hang anything because I think it looks sloppier.

150 is a great deal. Let me know if you happen across any like that again. I still run T5s on the back side of the tank and have the LEDs on front.

I want to try different brand on back for comparison.

Kessil is an amazing light and one that many many people use with great success.

Have you ever heard of someone using this crappy Aquatic Life 1 Watt with any success?

Why are there so many posts on Kessil?

Why did Kessil win Best LED Light of the Year last year?

Why is this the only post I have ever seen on Aquatic Life?

It is because it is a terrible light that nobody buys.

And they do not buy it for a reason.

And it is not a Budget light (It is actually more than the Kessil A150 - 225 vs. 280)

So, because you don't like them, they must suck. Makes sense. And Kessil's were named LED of the year? By what authority? Those clowns at reef builders who get PAID to endorse certain products?

Seriously?

No, it is not just because of my opinion.

And please remember that I actually have both Kessil and AquaticLife.

I post because I do not want people to make the same mistake as myself.

Now I have a 280.00 LED on the Floor collecting dust.

Unlike most people on the forum I have experience with these lights.

And if Kessil was terrible there would not be so many people using them.

I know dozens of people personally that love them and I know nobody else that has the AquaticLife.

And being that they are more expensive than Kessil obviously does not make them "budget" LED's. I mean how could they be the budget alternative when they cost more.

Yes, I do like Kessil but I am not saying that they are the end all be all light.

There are plenty of great lights on the market.

AquaticLife is not one of them.

And they are not cheap either.

280.00 for 36 Watts?

You can get a ReefBreeders for 179.12

They are 100.00 cheaper and have 4.5 times the power.

That would be considered a "Value" Light and that is why so many people use them.

Plus, I believe you can dim them and choose the LED's unlike the AquaticLife which is on/off with no dimming and you are stuck with their terrible color scheme.
