CUC means clean up crew, like snails.

If the tank has just been set up, I'd add a few snails and let it age a while. Initial algal blooms often fade on their own.

deff and snails and also manually plucking will help the snails get a head start.

A and B.

Plus modified C. I'd do small daily water changes siphoning off as much of the snot as possible each time -- because it ain't going away with one water change. And if you do not have an RO/DI filter, I'd recommend you get one as soon as you can afford it because otherwise the water changes may not help.

I'm not aware of any fish that would help with this.

Where did you get the rock? If it's "dry rock," I think I read here on RC that they may leach phosphates until they're "cured," which would basically require you to change water periodically while monitoring phosphate levels until they stop leaching the stuff. If so, the goo may actually speed the process. By removing it daily, you'll exhaust the phosphate sooner. Good luck.
