I'm getting ready to go all-in and drop a heap of money on an apex controller, extra EB8, lunar simulator, etc. So far, the best price I've found on the whole shebang is at aquacave, namely because they have the base system listed at $10 under the manufacturer's site and offer free shipping. Unfortunately, manufacturers have twisted the arms of our sponsors and the days of loyalty discounts like aquacave's old 5% coupon code are gone.

So, before I drain my bank account on this controller, I thought I would post up to see if anybody knows of any other retailers who could offer a better price than aquacave - either through a coupon code, loyalty discount, St. Patrick's Day sale, group buy, etc.

Thanks,
Sean

I think Apex is usually excluded from any deals due to MAP.

Thanks for your input... I wasn't able to find anyplace cheaper than aquacave. Can't say I'm unhappy about that as aquacave always has awesome service, as well as great prices.

Maybe socaltropicalfish??

I believe there was only one or two manufacturer that made a huge stupid stink this past holiday season over the discounts given, and it was not Neptune. You might have to wait for a major holiday for anything. But you could always call anyone and ask....worst they can say is no and they want your business ;)

If you are going to use your smart phone for the monitoring and control process,(the display unit is not required if you do this) you can get the base unit on reefgeek.com without the display for $225.

http://www.reefgeek.com/equipment/Controllers_&_Monitors/Neptune_Systems_AquaController/Apex_Controller_&_Accessories/Apex_Base_Unit_w!_Temp_Probe_by_Neptune_Systems

dont forget to order your EB8 as well for $150

http://www.reefgeek.com/equipment/Controllers_&_Monitors/Neptune_Systems_AquaController/Apex_Controller_&_Accessories/Energy_Bar_8_Module_%28EB8%29_by_Neptune_Systems

When you do it this way it saves about $85.

Apex Jr is anohter option if going the smartphone route, depends on how many things you need to control.
