Blenny spitting out sand?? Normal??

Yeah some blennys and gobies will do that.

In the middle of the flow stream each time seems weird but it might just be coincidence. My dragon goby swims around my tank while he does it.

It swims around the middle of the tank. Dives down to the sand, comes back up and spits out a mouth full.

It's making a mess of sand on the rocks.

Can this cause a nitrate spike???

My Starry Blenny is doing the same thing and has been doing it for 2 months.

The amount of sand that the Blenny is moving wouldn't cause a nitrate spike.

It's normal. Mostly trying to pick up any pods that they can.
