View Full Version : The Banggai Rescue Project

I want to let everyone know about a very worthy project that we believe deserves serious consideration by all marine aquarium hobbyists. As many of you may be aware, overfishing of the Banggai Cardinalfish has been cited as a factor in the species being placed on the IUCN Red List as "endangered." This is alarming since this fish has only been widely available in the hobby for less than two decades.

The Banggai Rescue Project aims to investigate and document the extent of the decimation of the Banggai's natural populations and to support research into large-scale captive aquaculture methods. The Project is seeking funding for their expedition and a book documenting their findings. The book will be sold to offset the costs they incur.

Genesis Reef Systems would like to encourage you to consider making a pledge to help fund the Banggai Rescue Project, so we are offering incentives to anyone who pledges $10 or more to their effort by April 1, 2012. Details of our offer to you can be found at Genesis Reef Systems Banggai Rescue Offer (http://www.GenesisReefSystems.com/banggai-rescue/index.php)

Thank you for considering a pledge to a focused project that we believe can increase awareness and help avert a tragic loss of this species.
