I have a 100 gal 48x24x20, that I will be using 2 radion to light it. my question is what orientation do they need to be placed? such as
in a roll .. ..
or opposite : :

I would do it like this: -- -- (the same way mr saltwater tank had them on his 90g).

Depends on your aquascape. If you are doing the classic back wall of coral look, then do .. ..
If you are doing islands/mounds with space in front and behind do : :

I have a 120 gal of the same dimension except 4" taller. I have mine horizontal .. ..

I also have a 48x24x24 120 and because of the overflows on the back wall I mounted them slightly forward of center and have then going .. ..

Did mine .. .. over 120 DT and they look great (since Nov 11)

I would recommend mounting them in a horizontal fashion as others have mentioned.
