I have a 40 breeder and I need to buy some fish for this tank and was wondering if it would be possible to have the list below? The tank has a SWC mini HOT skimmer that is rated for 90g light bio load and 50g for a heavy bio load. I figure the list below would be a light to medium bio load because the gobies aren't much bio load IME.
2x fire fish
2x purple dart fish
1x yasha goby
1x flame angle
1x BABY yellow tang ( I know someone with a 300g that can house him when he grows out)
Thanks in advance!

Unless you find a mated pair the two fire fish will likely fight. You know the issue with the tang even if it is small so no use in going there.

So would one fire fish and one purple dart fish be fine together?

A purple dartfish is just another nickname for a purple firefish. These are shoaling fish, you can keep them in groups in larger tanks but, The only way i see success with the red and purple getting along would be if they were added at the same time. its kind of a weird situation.

So I have to go with one or the other?

Honestly, I probably wouldnt risk it... They'll probably find little territory's and get ****ed if the other goes near it. The purple actually seem a little more aggressive then The more timid reds.

You can get a pair of either or, but not both. They just do well alone or in a pair. Make sure your tank is covered as they will jump and end up on the carpet. Also forget the tang. Even if it's small who cares... Let someone who has the larger set up buy one instead. Flames are also a hit or miss if you plan on keeping coral.

I've had the best luck with Helfrich's firefish as far as them staying out in the open. The Purple and standard red firefish spend the majority of their time hidden in the rock work. Helfrich's seem to like to stay out in the open.

In a 40 breeder, a Royal Gramma. Maybe a couple of Ocellaris clowns. A green chromis wouldn't hurt either IMO. Go from there...
