Should i be turning my moonlights off at night so there is no light or should they be out just like the moon is all night?

Mine are set on a timer to come on before the main tank lights (about an hour) and they still on about an hour after the lights go off. They always wake up my fish but mine are also super bright LEDS so it floods the tank with light. It's a personal opinion but I just don't have a reason to keep them on all the time.

Are you looking at the tank when the moonlights are on? It's just a waste of electricity otherwise IMO.

I found my corals directly under the moonlights would never close up at night, so when I had them I gave the tank a 4-6 hour window with no lights at all. I'm running LEDs with a lunar cycle now so it varies depending on the phases of the moon.

My candycane corals won't open to feed under moonlight LEDs, so I have them off for the duration of the night.

I run mine to follow lunar phase and intensity.....

I have the Red Sea Max 250, the six moonlight LEDs come on when the T5s go off. I love the look, makes a great night light for the walk to the bathroom at 4am. But I don't know what my corals should look like at night, so.. maybe I shouldn't be...
