Agree it looks like a ball anemone but the picture makes it a little difficult. Silvansaria, I would suggest to look up ball anemones on google and see if the picture matches what you have in your tank since the photo you posted is a little difficult to see.

It's definitely not aptasia. I actually found what *looks* like an aptasia anemone on the underside of another rock - I'll post that later. I'm surprised the picture came out so good for such a small little anemone (or maybe a worm - but I doubt it)...
I've taken other pictures of these anemones but they are all the same - but it does look like a small version of the Ball Anemone - just not as colorful (yet) - but maybe that is due to age...

As a guy with 15 anemones in a 75g anemone tank and who had a major infestation of aiptasia (and started the laser eradication idea) this is not an aiptasia. I think Adrienne got it righ on in the first post, ball anemone. Very cool. Did it just appear on your LR? How long has your tank been set up? Good luck and have fun.

I found 3 of those recently when i was moving some LR around in my tank. Knew that they weren't aiptasia, thought they were some kind of Hydroid or something. Cool! Are they nonphotosynthetic? The reason i ask is because mine are growing on the underside of one particular piece of LR.

Yeah it has to be Ball Anemone - I looked them up and they are exactly identical...
My guess is they are hitchhikers for sure. 2-3 of them are growing quite nicely - about double the size now. I can see their inner circle with the outer arms now clearly displayed when they're at full extension. Usually though they're at about half way out...
99% I found them on the underside of the rocks. I see a couple of other anemones that look a little different - bright orange base but same translucent coloring of the arms...
...and it seems I have started to see actual aptasia in a couple of places albeit they are really small... It seems I also have a new feather duster as well. I'm going to be getting a new tank here soon - probably at least a 100 gallon - probably put the majority of rocks in the middle with a lot of swimming space on the sides until I fill it out more... But I figure I want to give the life in there room to grow at the moment and time to get there - especially these anemones without the fish having to fear for their lives when they get bigger...

To fish stores or...? I have to wait until they get bigger I would think. I transfered everything into my big 88 and I see some of them made it so I'll see how big they get...
