Hello RC...

Right now I have a 5 stage ro di system that is only activated manually by an adapter such as this:

There have been a few times I've forgot to turn this guy off and it has resulted in embarrassing news.

I was wondering if this would solve my problem- however I am skeptical that this switch can without 60psi. Is there a backup to this system of should I be able to sleep well with this single shutoff unit?

I have that exact unit and it works amazing. When the pressure builds up in the line, the diaphragm shuts off the water supply and the unit shuts off. You would be more than happy with this purchase.

Thanks for the reply; that makes me feel better about the order I'm about to put in.

First order placed at BRS...

I'm going to try out their two part system and replace my ro filters while I'm at it. Thanks for the added responses.

how does it work?

There is a floatswitch at the end of the fresh rodi water which when activates creates back pressure at the valve and closes off the line that feeds the first membrane... this not only blocks off the main supply of water but also the waste water so everything is stopped.

Theres a video on BRS' site

So I received this in the mail and installed it, but when the float switch is activated it holds well but after a while I think too much pressure is built and causes the ro unit to make noises.

Does anyone have an issue like this? I will probably have to contact BRS directly.

What kind of noise and what is your water pressure?

I have the same unit but got it from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com. works great. Mine's silent. If BRS can't help you with the noises (they have GREAT customer service, BTW), call Russ at BFS.
