Im sure some of you have heard about or tried using these in a diy fixture. I added these to my sons 40 gallon breeder fixture last night to try them out. We the turquoise do as they say when mixed with 660 red and Royal blue. I really like the outcome of what they give off. My flame angel has never looked so bright. The cyan i was also quite pleased with. A combination of all these leds and im getting color that i havent seen since going to leds in this tank. im getting closer to the color spectrum that im looking for in my main display tank.

Great to hear of your success. I've been advocating "broad spectrum" LED's for a while. You should be even more pleased once you add the 420's.

Good to know that these colors are indeed working. Whats the ratio that you used to mix the turquoise with the 660red and the blue? I am assuming you have used NW and not CW along with the RB. Can you please list your LED's and your layout for your DIY? Also any pics would be great.

Thanks.

What optics are you using on each color?

60 on blue, 80 on everything else. The cyan are the two that dont have optics but they are 60 degree

What do you think about the Violet UV LED's?

I dont have them installed on this on yet but i will soon. I did a test fixture last week with one in it and it was great. I plan on putting 3-4 on this fixture.

I'm thinking I'm going to need another fixture to go over my 120 4x2x2.

Right now I have 2 fixtures, each with 30 350ma Royal Blue and 30 350ma Bright White and 60 degree optics. (Ecoray 60D's). Think I'll replace 4 whites in each fixture with reds.

For the new fixture I'm thinking a 30 LED setup with the following mix:
7 XP-G R5 running at 1200ma 80 degree optics
8 XP-E Royal Blue at 1200ma 60 degree optics
3 Epileds 3W LED UltraViolet 398nm at 700ma 80 degree optics
4 420nm Actinic Violet at 700ma 80 degree optics
5 520nm Cyan at 700ma 80 degree optics
3 660nm Red at 700ma 80 degree optics

How do you get your camera to take photos with accurate color representation with violets and blues on?

I use a an auto exposure setting and also set my white balance. I think its mostly possible due to the combination of colors creating some what of a white light which allows me to take the picture. Its near impossible for me to take pictures when just royal blues are on.
