AquaClear 110 or Marineland Emperor 400?

I am trying to decide which would be best for my 30g tank. Right now it is empty, but I am planning on turning it into a FOWLR, and then eventually into a reef.

AC70 modded into a refugium. Not sure if the 110's inflow is too tall for the depth of your tank.

For my 40 I have a ac 110 fug and marineland 350. I think 400 is too much for 30g.

I've never used a Marineland filter so I can't really comment on that filter.

Reason I've never used one is because I put an AC 70 on the back of my 10 gallon tank over 9 years ago and it's been running 24/7/365 ever since.

I used to have a 110 aqua clear on my 75 with no problems , I used ceramic cylinders and just rinsed them when they got dirty.
