Just bought a brand new Tunze Osmolator. I heard they were supposed to be the best at not getting stuck in the on-mode. Mine will not turn off even after it's gone past the water line. Any ideas on what is happening?

2 reasons:
1) Trapped air in the pump. Shake the pump gently to release all of it. Happen to newly introduced pump into the water.
2) Wax or bubble trapped around the laser sensor. Try to use your finger to gently rub it off. (try the 1st method before this)

Is the pump actually on, or is it siphoning water because your top off container water level is higher than the sump water level?

+1. If you hear a very slight hum, that's the pump, if not, you have a siphon issue.
