The 180 ,though big, would look nice in a living room. You would have to put some braces in the basement to keep the floor from sagging. If you are going to use a standard 180 stand, there isnt much room with the 75 sump underneath. I took out the floor of the stand, then put the stand on some 2x6'swith the sump on my tile floor to give me more room. If you are putting your sump in the basement you will need a large pump to get the water up to the 180 and then keep good wf. Keep us posted. Ill be following.

If you have the ability and the room to have it upstairs...I def would, mine is currently in the basement, would love to have it upstairs since that is where I spend most of my time. But since I rent a house I can't really go modifying it. Future plans are to turn it into a man cave area, but with spending the money on the tank build it doesn't really even out. Either way...good luck with the build and i'll def be following along.

If you have a finished basement I would put it in there. Whatever room you have it in will quickly become the room you enjoy the most. Plus you wont have to spend any money strengthening the floor which can go right into the tank, lol. Good luck with the build, I will also be following along.

so my basement is not finished and is pretty cold all year long so would rather have it in the living room or atleast the dinning room just got to find a spot that this beast will fit. in the mean time i will be looking for dry rock looking for some bigger pieces also looking for a pump for the return line. thank you for you input :) every little bit helps. so this is going to be the tank the wife gets to pick everything out thats what was the icing on the cake for me to be able to get the tank.
