I modded a new aquaclear 50 for my refugium. I am new the the fuge scene, and my main purpose is to lower phosphates because they were about triple what they should be. I did some remover in my mechanical filter, and it lowered it some, but ultimately i hope this benefits me in the long run.

i am currently using 6" of these LEDs from wac lighting

They are the 24 volt 4500k LEDs, there are a total of 6 (couldnt fit more on lid)

I have my timer set at midnight til 7 am... opinions?

I'm not an LED expert, but it looks to me they give off sufficent light my only concern would be the low K rating on them if your growing macro algae in there.
