Nitrite in qt tank

I've waited over two mths for my quarantine tank to fully cycle. It is twenty gallons. I have.a hob filter and big sponge filter w powerhead. My ammonia has been zero for sec wks but my nitrite remains a stubborn .5 ppm. I'm not putting any organic material in tank and no fish are in tank. Advise please. I've already did two twenty percent water changes. Thanks

There is no concern about 0.5 ppm nitrite. It is not toxic in seawater the way it is in fresh water. :)

Glad you posted this! I've only known this a few years; like so much in our hobby, new info spreads slowly and it won't be common knowledge for another 20 yrs.
