Sorry....I am new to APEX. thinking of buying one but have a few questions. I want it to control my ATO(that isn't a reality yet)...do I need to purchase a separate optical sensor or float switch? Secondly, the ability the use the net features....do I need a separate module for that like on the RKE.

Hey,

You will need to buy an ATO unit separately from the Apex.

This is what I have just set up for the ATO.

Avast ATO which plugs into the I/O port on the Neptune Systems Apex, then I have a BRS dosing pump to top up the water level. I found myself in the same situation your in, trying to understand it all, I found enough information to jump in and hope for the best, but so far its worked out great.

The NS Apex is unbelievable, cannot recommend it enough, and these other components for the ATO are awesome too.

Switch: http://www.avastmarine.com/ssc/do/product/rigging/Top-off-Kit

BRS Pump: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/dosing-pumps-and-auto-top-off-systems/brs-top-off-doser-50-ml-per-minute.html

Hope this helps

The Apex comes with Ethernet built in, so you wont need an additional module for web capability. (This is the Apex model, not sure about the Jnr model.)

Takes some understanding but with a little patience, its possible, and well worth it. Its nice to be a 1000 miles away from your tank and open an app on your phone and see that everything is still okay in your tank.

I just got my APEX 3 days ago. It is unbelievable and would pay for it 10 times over. I am having issues with ATO too. Just programming. I started another thread on it just now.

You don't need separate ATO setup. Apex does it. Just need float switch or switches and a beak out box. Along with a pump. I use aqua lifter.
